James Daly Awakening

Work by James Daly

My works are representative of the state of mind present between being asleep and being awake, surfacing from a dream; when all things seem possible and the creative potential of everything is limitless. The theme of the figure rubbing his eyes represents the struggle to emerge from the series of thoughts, images, and sensations present when one is asleep. A dream can be described as a state of mind in which someone is or seems to be unaware of their immediate surroundings and this is represented by the preoccupation with the indiscernible shapes and colours present within my work.
