Natasha Pappalardo Insomnia series

The Insomnia series is primarily an exploration of conscious thought preventing unconscious rest. This is a reflection of my struggle with insomnia throughout my life. I chose charcoal as the medium because its smooth and rough textures can be manipulated in many ways to represent specific emotional states. The idea to have the images minimally stylised and posed was an intentional aim to create a sense of authenticity and feeling.
