Jana Walker A line is a dot that went for a walk
‘A line is a dot that went for a walk’ – Paul Klee.
My drawings explore the simplicity of line, which becomes very complex and technical. My practice with line evolved through a series of experiments with different papers and pens resulting in a wide range of expressive lines and configurations in my work. I am naturally a very tidy, precise person and the challenge of developing more expressive approaches to drawing was confronting and exciting. I became very confident in my material practice quite early in the process and this allowed me the time and opportunity to explore the value of line and its implied meaning when used in the abstract form.
