Tahlee Hamilton I like to learn from the past, not ‘live’ in it
The ideas conveyed in my work relate to the connection between the generations within my family. Knitting was my grandmother’s hobby. She taught my mother, who then taught me. The traditional technique of knitting was the core structure of my forms. However, I then used contemporary practices, by incorporating porcelain, to create the connection between traditional and contemporary worlds. By leaving some of the cotton yarn untouched within the forms, it shows the juxtaposition between the functional technique of knitting and the aesthetic nature of my pieces.
