Isabella Molinari Lost in lockdown
My body of work, Lost in lockdown, explores the difficulties of separation from loved ones due to COVID-19 restrictions. Separated from my family in Italy, my intent was to convey my feelings of isolation through art. I crocheted with toilet paper and paper towel to represent travel-related objects, such as a suitcase and headphones, with ironic humour arising by referencing the lockdown toilet paper shortage. In using this flimsy material, my work makes a connection between the commodities lost in lockdown and the fragility of personal relationships under the strain of times of hardship and distance.
