Cristian Varvakis Whispers of light and noise
My body of work represents the rare neurological phenomenon of visual snow. This condition is accompanied by the visual noise of static, coloured dots, falling snow and auras, which I examine through the mediums of photomedia, graphic design and time-based form. The work uses visual disturbances to represent my anxiety and isolation related to the experience of visual snow. The butterfly expresses the movement from adversity to resilience within the visual chaos. My work is intended to demonstrate the beauty within the disorientation of my experience of visual snow while challenging perceptions of normalcy, vision and reality.
