Isabella Warland Cerebellum
The cerebellum controls involuntary survival and reproductive instincts, body temperature, circadian rhythm and appetite. My body of work, Cerebellum, represents the shared behaviours that drive all living creatures. It examines the complex neural pathways that link our physical actions to primal impulses. I made the photographs ominous, shadowed, with the intent of representing the essence of instinctual behaviour, transcending boundaries of species and language. As the audience engages with my work, I invite them to become part of my visual documentation and experience of Cairns, North Queensland. Within our diverse beings, a primal thread of connection binds us all.
