Louise Bourgeois: installing ‘Maman’

Please ensure javascript is enabled to watch video

Watch as Louise Bourgeois’s world-famous and seminal sculpture Maman 1999 takes her position on the forecourt of the Art Gallery’s South Building. This is the first presentation of the monumental artwork in Australia as part of the exhibition Louise Bourgeois: Has the Day Invaded the Night or Has the Night Invaded the Day?

Standing more than 9 metres high and 10 metres wide, the sculpture is an ode to the artist’s mother who she described as ‘deliberate, clever, patient, soothing...and [as] useful as a spider.’
