Experimentations in paper, surface and form through the manipulation of ink and water led me to examine metaphors of the human vessel and spirit upon death. The pod forms, once constructed, were recontextualised in environments exploring the body as flesh, the spiritual body, organic life and as scientific intrigue. The paper, suffused with Latin text derived form the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick, alludes to the religious and spiritual experience at the end of life. As such, audiences play a vital role in interpreting the ambiguous forms, drawing meaning relative to individual experiences.
