I have explored the various ways line and colour can be used to represent space, depth, movement and repetition. The Bridget Riley exhibition at the MCA blew me away with her use of line, colour and size. I was amazed at how static forms could ignite sensations and movement. I knew that Emily Kane Kngwarreye also uses line and colour, but that she has a more organic approach.
My work involved studying Riley's and Kngwarreye's artmaking processes, then finding how best to marry the two styles. I used masking tape, which also provides additional depth.
