Propose the many possible and original, everyday functions of each object used in these artworks. Investigate how each has been transformed through by the artists to become a vessel for spirituality, binding the past with the present. Analyse how each artist has created a holder and transmitter narratives of identity.

Newtown High School of the Performing Arts My work is an exploration of my family history; it follows the journey my great-grandparents took from Italy to Australia eighty years ago. The concept of the slip-cast bottle as vessel represents the metaphor of the sea journey. In my use of glazes, oxides, screen-printed text and wax emulsion the surface treatment provides a bilingual narrative of the journey.
