ARTEXPRESS 2006
8551 students submitted artworks as part of the 2005 Higher School Certificate Visual Arts Examination.
Eight distinct ARTEXPRESS exhibitions have been selected from the 2005 HSC Visual Arts examination for display in 2006.
Five exhibitions are held in metropolitan Sydney and an exhibition will tour to Newcastle, Tamworth and Dubbo regional galleries throughout NSW until December 2006. Two separate regional exhibitions will be shown at Wollongong and Wagga Wagga.
There were 934 students' works nominated for ARTEXPRESS and from these 295 students works selected for exhibition. The 934 student bodies of work comprised of 10,847 separate artwork pieces.
Metropolitan exhibitions comprise:
- David Jones department store windows in Sydney
- Art Gallery of New South Wales
- Hazelhurst Regional Gallery & Arts Centre
- Sydney Olympic Park
- College of Fine Arts, UNSW
The eight ARTEXPRESS exhibitions include the work of 295 students from schools across NSW. The regional touring exhibitions are comprised of 131 works selected from the five metropolitan exhibitions and additional works selected for tour only. In all the ARTEXPRESS exhibitions there are 90 students from country NSW.
There are 54 students in David Jones displayed in 37 windows in the Elizabeth and Market Street stores. The Art Gallery of NSW has 57 exhibitors, the College of Fine Art NSW has 29 students, the Sydney Olympic Park Authority is exhibiting 70 student works and Hazelhurst Regional Gallery & Arts Centre has 53 student's works. The largest exhibition will be the regional tour that will continue until December 2006.
The works of 72 students of the 131 represented in the touring exhibitions are from country schools.
The regional exhibitions will comprise of a travelling exhibition that will visit three regional galleries beginning in Newcastle and continuing on to Tamworth and Dubbo, a separate exhibition at Wollongong City Gallery and another at Wagga Wagga Regional Gallery.
The ARTEXPRESS exhibition consists of the complete range of media submitted for the Higher School Certificate in Visual Arts and includes a comprehensive film screening program.
