The installation of ARTEXPRESS 2006 took place from Monday 30 January to Thursday 2 February in the Project Space, Ground Level of the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
While the layout and design of the exhibition are done at least one month prior to it opening, the actual installation takes no more than 3 - 4 days from start to finish.
This includes:
- construction and placement of temporary walls
- painting of bases, shelves and walls
- final placement of each artwork on the floor
- fixing of artworks into position
- set-up of audio-visual equipment for the display of films/videos and digital animations
- fixing of wall labels, artwork captions and title-wall texts
- lighting of rooms and individual artworks
- cleaning of the entire space and final touch-up by the painting crew.
The following day, the exhibition is open to the public. The installation process is supported by members of the Gallery's installation and lighting crew, construction and painting workshop and Audio Visual department, who all contribute their expertise to make ARTEXPRESS a high-quality presentation.
